Socio-technical changes create a wide range of challenges and opportunities for educators and those who support learning around the world. Digital technologies (such as credit-card sized computers, digital games, artificial intelligence, massive online open courses, robots, social media and tangible technologies) are increasingly becoming embedded in our societies and being used for a wide range of purposes in educational settings. This pathway is designed for those who wish to take a critical perspective on the use of technology in diverse educational settings. It is suitable for people with a variety of educational backgrounds and experiences, including teachers and lecturers, creative technologists, and those who support informal learning settings such as museums and public spaces.

The pathway will provide you with a firm foundation for developing your career in teaching, education leadership, research or learning technology. You will develop an in-depth understanding of socio-technical change and the uses of digital technologies to support educational initiatives in a wide variety of settings. In addition, the pathway will prepare you to undertake further research in this rapidly developing field. This pathway is taught in an international centre of excellence in teaching, research and educational technology. The tutors on the course are world-class academics with excellent research records in the field of education, technology and society.

The standard requirement for entry to a taught Masters programme at Bristol is an undergraduate (Bachelor) degree that is equivalent to a UK Upper Second Class degree (also known as a 2:1). Applicants who hold a Bachelor (Honours) degree will be considered for admission to a Masters degree. A CGPA of 3.2 or above is considered equivalent to a UK Upper Second Class degree. Please refer the university website for standard English language requirements and minimum entry requirements for each subject. Applicants whose first language is not English are required to meet the language requirements as outlined in the language Profile relevant for their intended programme of study.

Students whose first language is not English need to have IELTS Academic from non-authorised test centres with 6.5 overall, minimum 6.0 in all bands.
